The Greater Fayetteville area (including the cities of Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville) is a thriving metropolitan area of over 325,000 residents (M.S.A. 2002). The area, often referred to as Northwest Arkansas by many, has a highly diversified economy, and in addition to being the home of the University of Arkansas, serves as the corporate headquarters for such internationally known companies as Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods, and J. B. Hunt Transportation. Numerous smaller corporations such as America's Car-Mart, Brass Eagle, and Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies have also located their corporate headquarters in Northwest Arkansas.

Although the area is one of the fastest growing in the southeastern U.S., Northwest Arkansas still enjoys a cost of living that is 7% below the national average and a crime rate that is 35% below the national average.

Beaver Lake

Northwest Arkansas offers a wide range of unique cultural and recreational activities that can be found nowhere else. Located in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, the area offers numerous opportunities for camping, hiking, fishing, hunting and mountain biking.

Walton Arts Center

The University of Arkansas and the City of Fayetteville provide numerous cultural activities including those sponsored by the Walton Arts Center complex, which consists of three theaters for the performing arts, an art gallery, studios for dance and art, teaching spaces for multi-disciplinary arts, and an outdoor pavilion. The Walton Arts Center also hosts traveling broadway productions. Northwest Arkansas also boasts its own symphony orchestra and theater group. Live music is plentiful in the numerous clubs and venues on Dickson Street and in the City Square of downtown Fayetteville. If you are a sports fan, you will have nonstop access to Razorback sports and the Southeastern Athletic Conference.

NWA Regional Airport

Northwest Arkansas and the University of Arkansas are easily reached by Highway 412 from Tulsa, OK, or by Interstate 540, which connects to Interstate 44 in Missouri and Interstate 40 in Arkansas. You can also reach Northwest Arkansas by air. The area is served by the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA). Six airlines provide non-stop flights to New York, Newark, Cincinnati, Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte, Memphis, Minneapolis, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Denver, Salt Lake City, Orlando and St. Louis.
